It's been a while since last updates and during that time we have been to a few dog shows and been on a holiday.
At first we went to Kotka INT show in June 19. I had entered all dogs there but Ira stayed home because she was dropping all her coat off and looked terrible. Minto got a Good this time. The judge thought he was too small. She liked Manu better and he got an EXC and won junior class and became best male 3 with CAC.
We also got Manus hip and elbow results back from the Finnish Kennel club. His hips are A and elbows 0 and eyes clear. Thank you Sirpa for my third healthy dog.
Our summer trip we took to the north. In 11 days we drove 3400 km and visited north Finland, Norway and Sweden. In Sweden the boys were entered to Gällivare INT dog show. I hoped Minto would get his first Cacib abroad and he did, his result were BOB CAC CACIB. Manu did also very well, Best male 2 and res-cacib. I am very pleased with both boys results.
Since we got home it has been really hot here. It has been impossible to do anything with the dogs except take them swimming occasionally. Now, when the evenings are getting a little cooler I have started running with Manu. He is the only one of our dogs who doesn't understand why you should take it easy while it's hot. He is really anxious to run even then.
We are also waiting for puppy news from Kennel Utamuutin, it shouldn't take long now =)

Several happenings during the last few weeks again. I took Minto to a mental test and he got 125 points from there. The judge told me that it is impossible to get Minto to be mad at a human person. He just can't understand that someone would like to harm him. He is such a happy boy always.
Last weekend It was Manus and Iras turn to go to Hamina INT dog show. Manu did well, he was best male 2 and got his first CAC. Ira got a Very Good this time.
Today it was time for Manus ex ray on his hips and elbows. Everything looked really good and now we just have to wait for the official results from the Finnish Kennel club. The vet discovered PPM in his eyes, but it shouldn't bother him at all. Ira had her eyes checked also and unfortunately she was diagnosed with HC. Last time her eyes were checked she was perfectly healthy so this came as a little chock for us. Now we hope that she can manage with her eyes and it wouldn't get any worse. But time will tell.
We had really warm weather for a couple of weeks so it have been impossible to move the dogs. They are all in full coat still so they have been just relaxing in the sun.

Finally some updates here. I have been really lazy with updates lately, I know, sorry about that. I'll try to get better =) Manus page have been updated with some new pictures, thank you Marja-Liisa once again. On each dogs own pages there is now the results of the tests and races during last winter and from shows. Some new pictures is also in their own galleries. I'll put in some more pictures soon.
We have been to a few dog shows and in March we participated on a Weight Pull Test with Ira and Minto. Both dogs accomplished KVK1 which is the official result for an approved test for weight pulling. It was Mintos first test so I am very pleased with both dogs result.
Last weekend we went to Hämeenkyrö and the Finnish Alaskan malamute Specialty Show with Minto and Manu. There were 74 mals entered and both boys got an Excellent and were placed second in their classes. The judge was quite strict so the EXC didn't come for free. Also pleased with the dogs performance there.
Now the dogs are on a vacation after the long winter. We started biking and kick biking just for the exercise but without no especially goals. They are really happy about doing long walks in the woods and just relaxing.
The boys are still coming along really well and there are no problems in the dog yard.

We have had a couple of events during the last couple of weeks. On Sunday 7.2 we headed to Keuruu and a Group Show there with Minto and Manu. It was quite a long way to drive there and once again I questioned my sanity when I woke up in the middle of the night to go to a dog show, but when we got there it was really nice again to be at a sow. And it was worth the drive, Minto won Working Class and became BOB. For Manu it was hes first official show, and though I didn't practice him for it at all, he got an EXC and was second in Junior Class. He also was Best Male 4 and got an RES-CAC. So I am very pleased for his first show, he is only 10 months old.
Last Sunday we went to Ylämaa to participate in an official sled dog race with Minto and Ira. I had the chance to borrow Yepa from Marja-Liisa and Pekka in our team so it was the first time that I drove a three team in a race. The trail was very soft and hard for the dogs, but we did quite well anyway. Minto did the most of the work, the girls was a bit lazy, but anyway we got to finish and all of the dogs worked as well as they could for that day. I am so proud of the girls, they really don't know each other but there was absolutely no problems with them at all. They ran together as they always done it.
Thank You Marja-Liisa and Pekka for letting me borrow Yepa, I'll think I have her another time also if you let me.

It is already February and I have been really lazy with the updates. After a little pressure from friends, I'll try to write something now. First, we have really much snow here. It has been a while since we had a real winter here in Southern Finland. I have lived here for 8 years now and during that time it hasn't been this much snow once. The dogs are enjoying it and we have had really good conditions for sledding this winter. At the moment the depth of snow is 78 cm.
We have been to Toivakka to participate on sled race in January. At first I didn't think of going because the dogs were not in race condition, but then I decided to go anyway. We took it as a training for races to come, and even if we didn't get any good results, we had fun.
At home we have been sledding a lot. Manu is also becoming a really good sled dog. He loves to run and now he is running in lead with Minto and Ira is the wheel dog. They seem to like their places good and everything is going really smooth.
We was at Ylämaa to join the samoyeds when they organized a sled tour and even if it was 16,5 km, Manu ran along really well. It was the longest tour ever for him.
We also got some good news from Kennel Snocrib in Sweden. Minto became dad to seven pups.
Now we are waiting for the annual ALMA winter meeting, and we have also planned to go on some shows in the spring. I will also try to take part in Weight Pulling competition with Minto and Ira and maybe some sled races this winter too.
